Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

If you think this is another Vampire flick, then you’re wrong. This is a serious movie about a 16yr old embracing the life of vampire. Its a film adaptation of the first – three books – The Saga of Darren Shan. So expect for a trilogy in making. My next visit to Library will include looking for this book. The book series is written by Darren Shan.

Some big names coming together on this movie like Salma Hayek, Ken Watanabe and John C. Reilly.

Less known name Chris Massoglia playing the lead as Darren Shan.

In Singapore the movie release date is on 7th January 2010.. so long wait folks!!

Below is the plot :-

The Vampire’s Assistant, based on the popular series of books by Darren Shan called The Saga of Darren Shan,
is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a
200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled
into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque
creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a
boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from
nightmare

It all starts when Darren and his best friend, Steve, go to a freakshow. When they sit down, they meet the insane Wolf-Man. At the end of the show they meet Laurent Crepsley (John C. Riley) a two-hundred-year old vampire. After the show, Darren gets lost and walks onto the middle of the stage, where he is greeted by none other than Mr. Crepsley. There, Mr. Crepsley asks Darren if he would like to become a vampire. Darren accepts Crepsley’s offer, and blood. From there on it gets freaky.

The movie is based on these books: A Living Nightmare, The Vampire’s Assisant, Tunnels of Blood, Vampire Mountain, Trials of Death, and the Vampire Prince. It was not based on the other books in The Cirque Du Freak series.
