This year, Poland is celebrating the 200th Anniversary of their most prominent composer Fryderyk Chopin. To celebrate the occasion, the Polish Embassy has invited renowned Polish pianist Mr. Daniel WNUKOWSKI, who will play music from Chopin and the Embassy of Japan has invited world-famous Japanese maestro Mr. Izumi TATENO who will perform music by French composer Deodat de Severac, who respected and loved Chopin very much. He and his assistant, Ms Hirahara will play “From the Holidays (for 3 hands)” by French composer Deodat de Severac, who respected and loved Chopin very much. This particular piece was arranged by Japanese composer Yasuo Sueyoshi specially for left-handed pianist Mr Tateno.
Organisers hope to transport to Singapore, a similar tradition of Chopin concerts such as the famous Chopin summer concerts in the Warsaw Lazienki Park. The location of the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage in Botanic Gardens is important for its closeness to the Chopin sculpture that was unveiled by the Embassy of Poland in Singapore in 2008.
The Embassy of Japan is very pleased to jointly organise this event with the Embassy of Poland.
Seats are still available for Mr Izumi Tateno’s piano recital (1 June) and lecture (2 June).
