Gay Murders on the Rise in Brazil

Metro Weekly reports that violence against the gay community of Brazil has climbed steadily for most of the last decade. According to a leading gay-rights group called Grupo Gay da Bahía, one gay murder has occurred on average every 24 hours so far in 2012. Paradoxically, Brazil allows gay marriage and is home to some of the largest gay pride celebrations in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
